Futures and Options Welcomes New Program Coordinator

Alissa joined the Futures and Options' team in November 2015. Prior to joining Futures and Options, Alissa was the affiliate relations manager at Dress for Success Worldwide, an international organization dedicated to helping women achieve economic independence. Before moving to New York City, Alissa spent eight years in the Washington, D.C. area pursuing her educational and professional goals. In D.C., she held positions with several nonprofits, gaining experience in volunteer management and youth civic engagement. Alissa also spent summer 2014 at the Seeds of Peace summer camp in Otisfield, Maine. In addition to enjoying the beauty and serenity of the camp's environment, she facilitated dialogue sessions with high school students, focusing on issues surrounding identity, stereotypes, and conflict as well as creating change in their communities.

“I am thrilled to be part of the Futures and Options' team. In only three short weeks, I have witnessed the tremendous impact Futures and Options programming has on New York City youth,” Alissa said. “The experience and dedication of every staff member, combined with our students’ motivation and enthusiasm to learn, inspires me to do my best as a program coordinator on a daily basis. In this position, I look forward to applying my previous facilitation and youth empowerment experience and encouraging Futures and Options participants to strive for greatness in whatever career path they choose.”

After growing up in New Jersey, Alissa attended George Mason University for both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees. She received a B.A. in Government and International Politics with a minor in Nonprofit Studies and an M.S. in Conflict Analysis and Resolution. Through her graduate studies, as Alissa’s passion for helping others grew, she honed her skills in facilitation and narrative mediation. Alissa is thrilled to be working with Futures and Options and looks forward to supporting students in discovering their own passions and achieving success.

You can reach Alissa via email.
