Each Spring the Young Professionals Committee hosts a fundraising event: A Toast to Brighter Futures. This year marked the 10th anniversary of our Ping Pong Tournament at SPiN New York!

This year's event raised over $40,000 for the Barbara L. Christen Scholarship Fund,  named in honor of our founder, rewards exemplary Futures and Options students on their way to college. These students embody the hallmarks of a Futures and Options student: professionalism, leadership, teamwork, communication, integrity, and an interest in exploring careers.

Our students come from low-income families, which makes paying for college a challenge.  Since 2012, we have awarded more than $50,000 in college scholarships to students who attended schools such as Boston University, College of the Holy Cross, Harvey Mudd College, University of Pennsylvania, and Yale University.

Thank you for your generous support of Toast and The Barbara L. Christen Scholarship Fund!

On March 12, 2018, our Young Professionals Committee (YPC) hosted an Excel Workshop for Futures and Options high school and college alumni and current students, who were eager to strengthen their skills. Led by Kyle O'Hehir, co-chair of the YPC Volunteer Committee, the workshop provided the opportunity for students to learn or improve their Excel skills, which are highly valued by employers in every sector. Each participant was paired with a volunteer from the YPC, who guided him or her through the workshop's exercises.  Students learned how to create and modify an Excel Workbook, use basic Excel features and formulas, and how to organize and calculate data. Thank you, YPC volunteers for organizing this workshop and sharing your knowledge of Excel with our students.
