Shakina Kirton
Shakina joined the Futures and Options team in December 2019. In her role as Program Operations Manager, she ensures that Futures and Options programming is delivered efficiently and effectively from start to finish. She provides support and coordination to all team members as they connect and mentor the high school students who walk through our doors.
Shakina graduated from Swarthmore College with a Bachelor’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies in May 2019. During her time at Swarthmore she discovered her desire to use her time and skills to serve others. She is interested in the impact the nonprofit sector can have to meet the needs of those who fall through the cracks. During both high school and college, Shakina struggled with finding an internship, many times having to prioritize a paid opportunity due to financial needs. Because of this Shakina was drawn to the mission and work of Futures and Options. She knows first-hand how one opportunity can change your view of where you want to go and what you want to do. In her free time she enjoys reading, binge-watching TV shows, spending time with her family and friends and trying new cuisines.
