The Inspiring Impact

We are excited to share some important news with you about the impact of our program!

We recently participated in a pro bono program evaluation project with Inspire, Inc., a nonprofit that provides consulting services to local nonprofit organizations focused on youth development.  Inspire surveyed Futures and Options' alumni and  private and nonprofit businesses partners in order to identify the short- and long-term impact of our programs.

The feedback is invaluable! It provides useful information about our program's strengths, challenges and impact as well as insight into the reasons why our business partners commit to working with us and the young people we serve.

When asked about Futures and Options' greatest strength, a business partner said:

"Helping to cultivate students with high potential who otherwise would not have access or exposure to such a program through their education channel."

The feedback shows that Futures and Options makes a difference - for youth and businesses.

Futures and Options prepares youth to succeed in the workforce:

  • Futures and Options alumni have a significantly higher high school and college graduation rate than the general New York City working population.
  • The number one benefit cited by our alumni was "greater understanding about the responsibilities of work."
  • 70 percent of our alumni believe their Futures and Options experiences provided greater clarity on career decisions and helped accelerate their careers.
  • Futures and Options' alumni are able to find jobs quickly and experience upward income trajectories.

"It gave me a stronger focus and understanding of the things I needed to do in order to succeed in the workplace and the classroom."

"The professional contacts I was able to make allowed me to land a great job right after college."

Our business partners remain committed to Futures and Options because it provides:

  • Opportunities to impact students' career and educational aspirations
  • Interns who meet and exceed expectations and who develop professionally
  • A focus on preparing, training and matching interns
  • Support and communication throughout the  internship

Finally, congratulations to the following alumni and business partners who won our exciting prizes including iPads, Kodak video cameras and gift certificates to Banana Republic!
